(Warning: Post contains spoilers)

Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. The police have closed her case. The only person Scarlet can turn to is Wolf, a street fighter she does not trust, but they are drawn to each other.

Meanwhile, in New Beijing, Cinder will become the Commonwealth’s most wanted fugitive – when she breaks out of prison to stay one step ahead of vicious Queen Levana.

As Scarlet and Wolf expose one mystery, they encounter Cinder and a new one unravels. Together they must challenge the evil queen, who will stop at nothing to make Prince Kai her husband, her king, her prisoner . . .

Oh how I love this world! The second book from the Lunar Chronicles was just as good as I expected it to be! After finishing Cinder I couldn’t wait to start reading Scarlet.

Scarlet is a new character in the book. She is a girl with red hair (yes, like the hair ;)). Her grandmother is missing and she falls in love with Wold. Yet another amazing new take on a classic fairytale!

I loved how the story was build up and that Scarlet and Cinder didn’t meet each other until the end of the book. This made the story much more fun for me to read. I knew it would happen but I just couldn’t figure out how or when.

What I didn’t like was the character of Captain (or cadet) Thorne. I thought he was a bit, I don’t know… Arrogant I guess. And I just didn’t like the way he and Cinder interacted. But that could just be me obviously. I just don’t like characters like that. However, he did add something to the story, so I don’t feel like it is a useless character.

Talking about characters brings me to Wolf…. I feel like I’ve got a love/hate relationship with him. He starts off real nice and I was like OMG YES this is the kind of character this book needs! And then he betrayed Scarlet and I was just so disappointed in him. And in the end he is kinda on the good side, but I don’t trust him. So yeah, fav male in the book still is Prince Kai. ALTHOUGH MARRYING QUEEN LEVANA IS PROBABLY THE MOST STUPID IDEA IN THE WORLD!

What I also really liked about this book was the tiny, close look at Luna and Queen Levana. I really liked what that did for the story and I can’t wait to read more about Luna and how Queen Levana will continue whatever she plans to do!

Who is your favourite characters from the Lunar Chronicles? Let me know in the comments!

Thanks for reading!

Love,

Demi
