Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy
(Warning: Post may contain spoilers)
Long ago, dragons were hunted to near extinction by the Order of St. George, a legendary society of dragon slayers. Hiding in human form and growing their numbers in secret, the dragons of Talon have become strong and cunning, and they’re positioned to take over the world with humans none the wiser.
Ember and Dante Hill are the only sister and brother known to dragonkind. Trained to infiltrate society, Ember wants to live the teen experience and enjoy a summer of freedom before taking her destined place in Talon. But destiny is a matter of perspective, and a rogue dragon will soon challenge everything Ember has been taught. As Ember struggles to accept her future, she and her brother are hunted by the Order of St. George.
Soldier Garret Xavier Sebastian has a mission to seek and destroy all dragons, and Talon’s newest recruits in particular. But he cannot kill unless he is certain he has found his prey: and nothing is certain about Ember Hill. Faced with Ember’s bravery, confidence and all-too-human desires, Garret begins to question everything that the Order has ingrained in him: and what he might be willing to give up to find the truth about dragons.
So after hearing a lot about this book and basically being forced to buy it by my friend Jill, I decided to give Talon a go. I’ve never really been a fan of Julie Kagawa’s work after I read the Iron King many years ago. But since I love dragons and Jill promising me I would love it, I bought it. And Jill, you were right. I love it!
I started reading Talon right after I finished Scarlet and I just couldn’t get into the story because Scarlet was still on my mind. So I put it away for a couple of days. When I decided to start reading it again I was so busy with school and internship I barely had time to read. So it took me some time to get into the story.
But when I did, I loved it. I really like the dragon-living-with-humans-thing. I think Julie described the dragons very well, every dragon looks different and I loved the fact that the dragons actually have an organisation.
I liked the characters and the storyline. I LOVE Garret.
I’m already reading Rogue, the second book in the Talon Saga and it is great! Expect a review for that anytime soon.
I would definitely recommend this book!
So thank you Jill, for making me buy these books!
